At least eight people died while nine others were injured when a bus collided with a passenger van and a tricycle (motorcycle with sidecar) in Pamplona, Camarines Sur (some 390 kilometers southeast of this city) earlier today.
Police reports from Legazpi City in Southern Luzon disclosed the bus was headed for Manila and attempting to overtake the tricycle but bumped its rear portion and caused injuries to three of its passengers. As the bus occupied the opposite lane, it collided with a passenger van.
Police Spokesperson Major Malou Calubaquib said the impact killed the van driver and seven of his 13 passengers. The Injured were immediately brought to nearby hospitals while the bus driver has been in police custody and undergoes investigation.
