The Yayoi Kusama Museum in the Bentencho district of Shinjuku Ward kicks off with an exhibition focusing on works from the 88-year-old’s latest painting series, “My Eternal Soul."

The five-story structure with a basement level will display her paintings and interactive artworks, in addition to documents and other materials.

It will be open on the dot from Thursday through Sunday, as well as national holidays, on a reservation basis.

Kusama was born in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. In 2001, she was awarded with the Asahi Prize, which is presented by The Asahi Shimbun Foundation to honor distinguished individuals and groups in academics, arts and other fields. In 2016, the artist was awarded the Order of Culture from the government.
