Bernardo Riedel is a folk hero for amateur astronomers around the world.

Now aged 80, the retired university professor from Brazil has made, by hand, nearly 2500 telescopes, in a career spanning 65 years.

He has been honoured with several awards and had an observatory named after him.

CGTN visited him in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte. Stephen Gibbs reports.
