There was only one winner in a confrontation between nature and machine on Saturday as a drone, which was piloted too close to a tiger enclosure in a zoo in southwest China’s Chongqing, was slapped out of the air by a tiger as its owner tried to take photos.

The drone was three meters above the enclosure in Lehe Ledu Theme Park when the tiger pounced and knocked the drone out of the air, giving the other tigers chance to maul it.

One held the wrecked 10,000-yuan (1,500 US dollar) aircraft in its mouth as if showing off a trophy.

Unauthorized drone use is banned in public areas in Chongqing. The pilot of this one did have permission to fly from zoo authorities, but found the hard way that the true rulers of this domain are the big-cat residents.
