Britain has confirmed 47 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the country's total number of infections to 163, according to the country's health authorities.
The latest figure includes 147 cases in England, 11 in Scotland, three in Northern Ireland and two in Wales, said the Department of Health and Social Care in a statement.
Earlier, the British government pledged to spend 46 million pounds (59.9 million U.S. dollars) to find a novel coronavirus vaccine and develop a quick test for the disease. It has published its four-part action plan to contain, delay, research and mitigate the virus.
