China's CPI up 1.9 pct, PPI up 0.9 pct in December

China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 1.9 percent year on year in December, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.

The increase was down from 2.2 percent for November, according to the bureau.

China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, rose 0.9 percent year on year in December 2018. It was down from a growth of 2.7 percent recorded in November.

China's CPI rose 2.1 percent year on year in 2018, up from 1.6 percent for 2017.
