4 killed, 10 injured in Egypt's Giza blast

At least four people were killed and ten others injured in a blast in Egypt's Giza province near the capital Cairo on Thursday evening, the Egyptian state TV reported.

However, state-run MENA news agency reported that only three, including two policemen, were killed in the explosion.

MENA quoted a security source as saying that a police force stormed an apartment in Giza's Mariotya district that was used as a hideout by a group of terrorists.

The explosion was caused by a bomb found at the apartment that went off as policemen were checking it out, MENA reported.

12 others were injured in the blast, of whom two policemen sustained critical injuries, according to MENA.

Egypt has been facing anti-government attacks, mostly in the Sinai Peninsula, which killed hundreds of police and soldiers since 2013.

Most of the terror attacks have been claimed by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis militant group, which has changed its name to "Sinai State" and declared loyalty to the Islamic State.
