Indonesia issues reform policy to accelerate process in starting BIZ

JAKARTA, Oct. 10 (APD) — Indonesia launched on Tuesday its latest economic reform policy with the issuance of a presidential decree aimed at accelerating the process for business entities to start their businesses whose process would extensively use digital technology system.

Launching of the reform policy was expected to highly support those run their businesses in Small-Middle Enterprises (SMEs) sector.

To facilitate those applying to obtain the licenses to start their businesses, a task force would be formed by government, President Joko Widodo said.

“The task force was originally formed to handle the services, carryout the registration process, solving the problems occurred during the process. They were also assigned to develop simple online system to facilitate the process,” the president stated in the decree registered as No.91/2017.

Elements in the task force would include representatives from the central and regional governments, integrated single-window administration services, as well as state agencies and ministries, the president added.

The task force’s service would also cover those running their businesses in exclusive economic zones, industrial zones, tourism corridors, seaports and zones facilitating free trade schemes.

Issuance of the latest economic reform policy has added the 15 ones which have been issued by government since 2014, highly facilitating investors to invest in the country.

Among the reform policies which have been issued by the government were the investors’ access to electricity, registering property, acquiring finance, paying taxes, cross-border trade and establishing contracts.

Thanks to those economic reforms, the World Bank has uplifted Indonesia’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) to 91 this year, 15 flights higher than the previous 106.
