**MANILA, Dec.26 (APD) ** – At least 20 persons lost their lives in a road crash early Christmas morning (3:30 A.M.) at San Jose village in Agoo town in La Union province, some 200 kilometers or 125 miles north of Manila.

Ten others were reported injured in the incident.

In a telephone interview with Police Sr. Supt. Rogelio Samson, La Union Police provincial director, he said the jeepney had 29 passengers when it careened into the opposite lane and crashed head-on into a northbound Partas bus.

Nine of the other jeepney passengers were injured.

“We are still doing our investigation but it could be seen that the jeep traversed into the opposite direction,” Sr. Supt. Samson said.

He added the jeepney was a total wreck.

A bus passenger was also reported injured.

All ten injured passengers were rushed to La Union Medical Center in San Fernando City.

Among the fatalities were children and an infant and were bound to attend a Christmas Day Mass at the centuries-old Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine in Pangasinan province when their vehicle crashed head-on with the bus.
