Cambodia's famed Angkor earns 53.5 mln USD in 11 months

Revenue from ticket sales to foreigners visiting Cambodia's famed Angkor Wat Temple reached 53. 5 million U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of 2015, up 1.15 percent year-on-year, according to an official release on Tuesday.

During the period, the ancient site received 1.87 million foreign tourists, a 2.2 percent rise from a year earlier, said the release issued by the state-run Apsara Authority, which manages the site.

In November alone, the temple welcomed 200,085 tourists, generating a revenue of 5.87 million U.S. dollars, it said.

China, South Korea and Japan are still the largest sources of tourists to the temple.

Located in northwestern Siem Reap province, Angkor Wat Temple is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination.

An entrance fee to the site is 20 dollars per day for a foreigner, 40 dollars for a three-day visit and 60 dollars for a week-long visit.
