MasterCard joins hand with HalalTrip to facilitate swelling number of Muslim tourists

International transaction card of MasterCard established on Wednesday a cooperation with HalalTrip, an online travel service for Muslim tourists and sister brand of CrescentRating, launched several innovative products to facilitate Muslims to travel.

The launch was conducted during the conduction of the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum held here from Tuesday to Thursday. The products jointly launched by the two business entities were HalalTrip City Pass, HalalTrip Getaways and HalalTrip Homes.

Speaking in the launch event, MasterCard Division President for Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei Safdar Khan said that Muslim population was estimated to account for 26 percent from the world' s by 2030, provides good opportunities for businesses related to Muslim-themed tourism to grow further.

"We expected that development of innovative products and services to facilitate Muslims would increase the transaction landscape, to further boost further cross-border commerce and help organize new standards for the entire tour and traveling industry, " Safdar Khan said.

The HalalTrip City Pass offers the easy for its customers to get the access to popular tour destinations, meanwhile, the HahalTrip Getaways offers the easiest ways for the customers to organize their holiday that suits to their needs. The HalalTrip Homes facilitates the customers to find places to stay during their holidays.

HalalTrip and CrescentRating CEO Fazal Bahardeen said the launch of the high technology-supported products expresses the growing Muslim tour market that demands more modern and convenience facilities to ease them book their traveling packages.

"Muslim tourists are now customized to use tablets and smartphones to search and explore new tour destinations," Fazal said.

According to the existing data, value of Muslim tour and travel market in the world has currently reached 150 billion U.S. dollars, sees the rapidest growth in the world.

Based on the data showed in 2016 Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), Muslim tourist arrivals across the world were recorded at 117 million last year, accounted for 10 percent of global tourism industry's capitalization.

It was estimated that the figure would further grow up to 168 million tourists by 2020, with estimated market capitalization of more than 200 billion U.S. dollars.
