A fatal road crash occurred on Monday in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, leaving seven people killed and five others injured, local media said.

The incident happened when a passenger van collided with a trailer on Monday morning in Jamshoro district of the province, ARY News reported.

The two vehicles coming from opposite direction had a head-on collision, following which passenger van turned turtle, resulting in the number of casualties.

Police said the passenger van was on its way from the southern port city of Karachi to Naushahro Feroze, adding that the crash occurred due to over-speeding.

All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital where several of them are said to be in critical condition.

Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures.

Traffic police officials say that most of the accidents happen in the country due to human error.
