Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena left for Britain on Wednesday to attend an anti-corruption summit, his office said.

The Anti-Corruption Summit 2016 is held under the patronage of British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday.

Sirisena is scheduled to address the summit on its first day.

"President Sirisena is participating in this summit, accepting the invitation extended by the British Premier when he met him at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Malta last January," the presidential office said in a statement.

During his visit, Sirisena will hold discussions with Cameron, the statement added.
