At least three dead as blast hits Mastung: sources

At least three people are feared dead and many others injured in an explosion in Balochistan's Mastung area near a mosque on Friday shortly after jummah prayers.

Levies sources claim Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi's convoy was the target of the attack. Hyderi is believed to have suffered minor injuries.

Police said Hyderi's car was targeted as he left the mosque after Friday prayers.

Levies sources said that at least three people were killed in the attack. Police say many others are injured and rescue operations are underway. Levies, police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel are present at the site of the attack.

The wounded are being taken to Mastung Civil Hospital, while those in critical condition are being transported to Quetta for treatment.

An emergency has been declared in hospitals in the area and more doctors have been called in, hospital sources said.
