Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has held his first press conference since his re-election on Saturday. Rouhani dismissed Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia and his anti-Iran speech as nothing more than a "political show.”
Rouhani also said that the US does not understand that Iraq, Syria and Lebanon's Hezbollah are actually fighting against terrorism, and that Iran has been providing assistance by sending diplomats and military advisers to these countries.
After winning re-election in a landslide election victory on Saturday, Rouhani is facing multiple challenges both at home and abroad, with economic reform a priority. Many Iranians say they have not felt the benefits of the 2015 nuclear deal, despite the subsequent lifting of international sanctions.
