China and Switzerland firmly support trade liberalization and oppose protectionism, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday.
Wang made the remarks during a joint press conference with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis in Beijing.
He stressed the importance of innovative cooperation between China and Switzerland, and said it should be applied to the Belt and Road Initiative.
As China continues to deepen its reform and opening up, especially in the field of finance, Wang called on both sides to beef up innovation cooperation on the basis of expanding free trade and financial cooperation.

The two foreign ministers held talks on topics including the establishment of a high-level innovation platform between the two countries.
Wang believes the two sides will continue to deepen their innovative strategic partnership.
Wang said Switzerland is home to many international organizations and China affirms Switzerland's unique role in international affairs.
The two sides agreed to support and cooperate with each other in multilateral institutions and insisted on pushing forward the process of multilateralism to build a new type of international relations and create a community of shared future for mankind, he added.
Wang also mentioned the two sides exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula situation and both welcomed and supported the positive signals.
Cassis is in Beijing on a three-day visit to China, which started on Monday. He will also visit northwestern Shaanxi Province.
