Co-CEO of Germany's largest bank to face trial in court

The Co-CEO of Germany's largest bank, Deutsche Bank (DB), will appear in court on an obstruction of justices charge, German press reported on Thursday.

According to Spiegel Online, Juergen Fitschen will be questioned at the Munich District Court on April 28. Peter Noll, a criminal court judge and chairman, has granted an approval for the legal procedures to proceed.

State prosecutors in Munich said Fitschen gave misleading testimony in a case related to the downfall Leo Kirch's media group. The DB settled a legal dispute with Kirch's heirs in a deal that cost the bank more than 900 million euros (about 1 billion U.S. dollars). Kirch, a media mogul, accused DB's former chief executive, Rolf Breuer, of questioning the creditworthiness of his group in a TV interview in 2002.
