Health leaders grapple with prospect of reversing course on masks

Public workers around the U.S are being given an ultimatum: get vaccinated or face regular COVID-19 testing.

The new directives have been issued as the seven-day average of new cases surged nearly nearly 47 percent over the past week as the Delta variant sweeps the U.S.

Now the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is discussing whether to reverse its guidance on mask wearing.

And that’s leaving both health and political leaders at the national level with some difficult conversations.
