The Tourism Authority of Thailand ( TAT) has launched a campaign and marketing plan to try to net 2.2 trillion baht (about 69 billion U.S. dollars) from local and international visitors in 2015.

The Thailand English newspaper The Nation quoted TAT governor Thawatchai Arunyik as saying on Tuesday that the authority expected up to 28.9 million foreign visitors next year.

He said this would increase this year's projection of about 26 million foreign tourists by 13 percent and the authority also hoped to boost this year's target of foreign-exchange revenue by 15 percent to 1.4 trillion baht (about 44 billion U.S. dollars).

He said TAT has also lined up action plans and strategies for local and international markets under the long-running "Amazing Thailand" campaign.
