APD | Heavy snowfall in northern India

Heavy snowfall took place in many parts of northern India, particularly in the provinces of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in other places like Delhi, there was light rain as the minimum temperature remained at 11.6 degrees Celsius.

Weather department informed, “Scattered to fairly widespread rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and isolated places in Rajasthan till Thursday.”

Lightening, thunderstorm and hailstorms are predicted in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh till Wednesday. While, in provinces of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, the situation would persist.

Many places in Himachal Pradesh like Shimla, Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie, also received snowfall on Tuesday.

In Keylong, a district in Lahaul and Spiti the temperature stood at, minus 7 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall also took place in Kufri in Shimla between 5.30 pm and 8.30 am on Monday and Tuesday. Keylong received 15.3 cm of rainfall while, Kalpa in Kinnaur district , received 15.2 cm of rainfall.

Dalhousie received 15 cm of rain, while Shimla 14 cm and Manali in Kullu district received 8 cm.

Rains brought down the temperature in Punjab and Haryana significantly.
