U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Tuesday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the SP U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of Trip.com Group and New Oriental Education Technology Group slid 1.93 percent and 1.42 percent, respectively, the top two decliners in the top 10 stocks in the index.

Shares of NetEase and ZTO Express rose 1 percent and 0.17 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday, the last trading day of 2019, amid lifted investors' sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 76.30 points, or 0.27 percent, to 28,538.44. The SP 500 was up 9.49 points, or 0.29 percent, to 3,230.78. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 26.61 points, or 0.30 percent, to 8,972.60.

As of Monday, the SP U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,186.85, marking a 4.59-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 39.08-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
