Two killed, one injured in mass shooting at Walmart in Colorado, US

At least two men have been confirmed killed, and one woman injured and taken to the hospital following the mass shooting at a Walmart store in Thornton in Colorado, US on Wednesday, according to local police.

The shooting reportedly took place at around 8:30 p.m. ET.

Multiple people have been shot at a Walmart in Thornton in the western US state of Colorado, local police said on Twitter.

Police did not immediately disclose the condition of the victims and it was not clear if the assailant had been taken into custody.

"We've got multiple parties down, we're still trying to ascertain what their conditions are," Officer Victor Avila of the Thornton Police Department told the media.

The store had been "self-evacuated" by customers and employees who fled following the gunfire, Avila said.

Local television images showed many police cars and ambulances are present at the scene.
