Suicide attack in southern Afghan town of Shahr-e-Safa kill 2, wounds 4

A suicide attack rocked Shahr-e-Safa city in Zabul province 340 km south of Kabul on Sunday, leaving two people, including the attacker, dead and five others wounded, governor of Shahr-e-Safa district Abdul Khaliq Ayubi said.

"A terrorist riding an explosive-laden car blew it up next to a military convoy at 10:00 a.m. local time today in Ishaqzai Manda area of Shahr-e-Safa district leaving himself and another apparently a military person dead and four others, all passersby civilians,injured," governor Ayubi told Xinhua.

Without giving more details, he said that an investigation has been initiated into the case.

Afghanistan has been witnessing increasing militancy mostly in the shape of suicide attacks since the beginning of Afghan Nawroz or New Year that began from March 21.

A day earlier five suicide bombers were killed and two police injured as militants attacked election commission office in the eastern part of Kabul on Saturday, saidKabul police.
