At least nine people died and seven were injured in a road accident in President Rodrigo Duterte's hometown in the southern Philippines, according to Xinhua, citing local police.
The accident happened along a national road in Bunawan district of Davao City when a passenger van and a truck collided at past 5:00 a.m. local time. Nine people in the van, including its driver, were killed, Davao Police chief Alexander Tagum said.
Of the seven who were hurt, five have severe injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
