TOP 1 | DPRK fires missile from Pyongyang after UN sanctions

The DPRK on Friday fired an “unidentified” missile from its capital Pyongyang, South Korea’s military said.

The missile, flying eastward about 3,700 kilometers, likely reached an altitude of 770 kilometers, the military said.

Friday’s missile launch came after UN slapped sanctions on Pyongyang on Monday, imposing a ban on the country’s textile exports and capping imports of crude oil.

TOP 2 | Trump strikes Dreamers deal with Democrats, details disputed

US President Donald Trump meets with congressional leadership in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, DC, on September 6, 2017.

US President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats have agreed to work together on legislation to protect "Dreamers", the second major act of cooperation between the previously warring sides in little over a week.

Following a dinner with Trump at the White House on Wednesday evening, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said the "productive meeting" focused on "DACA", a program established by former President Barack Obama to protect illegal immigrants who were children when they were brought into the US.

TOP 3 | Myanmar violence unnerves the UN Security Council

The UN Security Council expressed concern over the violence in Myanmar as the conflict in the country’s Rakhine state triggers another migration crisis.

The military campaign amounted to the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims, said UN chief Antonio Guterres as the UN Security Council broke its weeks-long silence on the crisis in Myanmar and called for an end to the violence on Wednesday.

Following a closed-door meeting, the 15-member council expressed concern about excessive force during security operations in Rakhine State and called for "immediate steps" to end the violence. It was the first time the council agreed on a united response to the crisis sparked by a military operation that followed attacks by Rohingya militants late last month.

Apple Inc on Tuesday rolled out its much-anticipated iPhone X, a glass and stainless steel device with an edge-to-edge display that Chief Executive Tim Cook called “the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone.”

The iPhone X’s $999 price still raised eyebrows, and its Nov. 3 ship date prompted questions about possible supply constraints ahead of the holiday season.
