Hungary welcomed the 100th Wizz Air aircraft that brought medical equipment from China to fight the novel coronavirus, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said Saturday.

"Yesterday, Wizz Air's 100th aircraft arrived in Budapest, delivering medical equipment between China and Hungary," Szijjarto wrote on his Facebook page.

"Thanks to joint efforts, over the last one and a half months, a total of 130 aircraft, including Wizz Air planes, have flown on the air bridge between China and Hungary," Szijjarto stated.

The Hungarian low-cost airline is playing "a key role" in supplying protective equipment to Hungary as well as in repatriating Hungarians stranded abroad, the minister has said.

According to official figures, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Hungary stood at 3,473 on Saturday, with 1,371 recoveries and 448 fatalities.
