Macao, Hongkong discuss mutual legal assistance in criminal matters

The discussion between Macao and Hongkong about agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters goes well, said judicial chief of Macao Special Administrative Region on Thursday.

After meeting here with Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong, Macao's Secretary for Administration and Justice Chan Hoi Fan told the press that the two sides discuss about the principles, details and technical matters, with some issues waiting for further research and adjustment.

She said the mutual legal assistance agreements with Hongkong and Chinese mainland should be in accordance with Macao's law of interregional legal assistance in criminal matters, which has been submitted for legislation procedure.

Chan added that the meeting about mutual legal assistance between Macao and Chinese mainland has basically reached a consensus on many aspects, as details will be discussed in future.
