APD | Top students win in the 1st Huawei Philippines Sales Elite Challenge 2019

For the first time, Huawei conducted its 1st Sales Elite Challenge out of China and awarded outstanding and creative students cash and brand new phones as prizes in fitting ceremonies recently.

Huawei Philippines Public Relations Manager Karenina Escueta-Buenafe said 200 students from various colleges and universities applied for the competition as recommended by their respective school officials. Huawei scaled down the applicants to 50 and grouped them with five members each.

The first challenge was the Commercial Bidding with the top 5G Network Deployment of Carrier S Project there the participants took part in the mock bidding. The top five groups advanced to the next level called Marketing Practice. The participants experienced retail marketing in selected Huawei Concept Stores.

The finalists were required to do the final presentation where they shared experiences in the Marketing Practice phase.

It was learned Huawei hopes to promote sales capabilities among the participants, identify and recruit outstanding students and improve their branding.

Francis Rosario, Huawei Philippines deputy Human Resource Director said the previous prestigious competitions have been held in China.

“The Philippines is the first country to host this competition among 170 Huawei country offices scheduled to launch the same competition later,” he added.

The team from the University of the Philippines bested other teams and received P300,000.00. Another team composed of University of the Philippines and Polytechnic University of the Philippines received a check for P150,000.00 while the third placer, a team composed of students from Ateneo de Manila University, Mapua University, UP and PUP received P90,000.00 for their efforts.

Special awards were also conferred on top individual performers. Top of the line Huawei phones were handed out by Huawei HR Director Jade Cao who also thanked the students for their outstanding performance.
