Multi-factor authentication under scrutiny after pipeline attack

The Colonial Pipeline carries nearly half the fuel consumed along the entire East Coast of the United States.

The recent cyberattack that shutdown the company last month was enough for panicked buyers to run some gas stations dry.

Now it’s emerged that those behind the attack did it by obtaining a single password requiring no additional authentication.

With attacks like this on the rise, lawmakers are demanding answers about how seriously companies who operate critical infrastructure are taking their security.
