More than 15 students have been injured in a road accident in the western Indian state of Rajasthan Friday, police said.

"The accident occurred when a school bus, carrying 30 students, overturned near Jhalawar Road on national highway No. 27," a senior police official said.

No one has been killed in the incident, all the injured students have been rushed to a nearby hospital by residents, where the condition of some are said to be serious, he said.

"We have informed the parents of the injured students," the official said.

Eyewitnesses told cops that the accident occurred after the bus driver lost control of the speeding vehicle while negotiating a bend.

"A probe has been ordered into the incident," the official added.

The accident came days after some 24 students were injured in another school bus accident in the state's Sikar district.

India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world. Road accidents occur mostly due to poor driving or badly maintained roads and vehicles.
