Cambodian PM raises salaries for lowest-level civil servants

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday signed a sub-decree to increase salaries for more than 90,000 lowest-level civil servants.

According to the sub-decree, the minimum monthly wage for lowest-level civil servants would be increased by 45 percent to 80 U.S. dollars from 55 U.S. dollars onSeptember 1, 2013.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that the increase was based on economic growth and national budget stability.

"Including bonuses, a lowest-level civil servant will get monthly wage of 86 U.S. dollars," the statement said. "More than 90,000 civil servants will benefit from the increase."
