China's top anti-graft body has made public eight typical cases of practicing formalities for formalities' sake and bureaucratism.

The cases involve government officials who were slack or faithless in fulfilling their duties, tried to seek privileges or made ivory-towered work arrangements that resulted in unnecessary exhausting and tedious work for lower-level departments, said the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

In another case, the top anti-graft body named and shamed some of the management of a state-owned enterprise in southern China's Shenzhen who disregarded work procedures, corporate regulations and even laws in performing their corporate roles.

The officials and Party members involved in these cases had been given punishments including serious intra-Party warning, administrative punishments and being removed from office, said the top anti-graft body, asking CPC members and government officials to draw lessons from the cases and make self-examination accordingly.

It demanded continued efforts to improve Party conduct by redressing acts of practicing formalities for formalities' sake and bureaucratism in a bid to arouse the enthusiasm of the general Party members and government officials.
