BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah sent a message of condolence to British Prime Minister Theresa May, following the latest attacks in London, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Monday.

In the message, the Sultan said that he was saddened yet again to learn of the latest attacks specially so soon after the incident in Manchester.

Attackers drove a van at high speed into pedestrians on London Bridge on Saturday night and stabbed people in the nearby Borough Market area, which was crowded with people at the time.

The IS group has claimed responsibility for the attack, British media reported Sunday, while an investigation is under way.

"Brunei Darussalam stands firmly with the Government and people of the United Kingdom and join others in condemning this senseless and heinous acts of terror," the Sultan said.

In ending the message, the Sultan extended his deepest condolences and great sympathy to the families and victims of this tragedy at this difficult time.
