Pakistan's income from IT services' export increases by 26.24 pct in 8 months

Pakistan's income from export of different information technology (IT) services to various countries has increased by 26.24 percent during the first eight months of the current financial year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said here Thursday.

The data released by the PBS showed that Pakistan earned a total amount of 887.47 million U.S. dollars during the first eight months of the fiscal year from July 2019 to June 2020 as compared to the 702.99 million U.S. dollars during the corresponding period of the fiscal year 2018-19.

According to the details, the computer services grew by 31.57 percent as it surged to 677.23 million U.S. dollars from July 2019 to February 2020 as compared to 514.74 million U.S. dollars.

The exports of hardware consultancy services from the country also increased by 3.34 percent to 1.794 million U.S. dollars from 1.736 million U.S. dollars whereas the exports of other computer services rose by 105.82 percent to 188.06 million U.S. dollars during the period under review.

However, the export of repair and maintenance services declined by 69.98 percent to 1.27 million U.S. dollars from 4.231 million U.S. dollars during the corresponding period.

Meanwhile, the export of information services also increased by 106.38 percent by going up to 1.94 million U.S. dollars from 0.94 million U.S. dollars recorded from July 2018 to February 2019.

The data further revealed that the country's telecommunication services export witnessed an increase of 11.21 percent by rising to 208.3 million U.S. dollars during the period of the ongoing fiscal year.
