Thai PM leaves for ASEAN-South Korea summit

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o- cha on Wednesday left for Busan, South Korea, to attend the ASEAN- South Korea Commemorative Summit 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.

Prayut will also have bilateral talks with the South Korean president and the king of Brunei, while meeting with delegates from leading South Korean businesses including Samsung Electronics, LG, Hyundai Motor and K-Water, said a statement posted on the Thai government's website.

The prime minister will take this opportunity to explain global and regional economic trends and the role of Asia in mobilizing world economy, encourage ASEAN and South Korea to collaborate in mutually potential areas of business, and address Thailand's economic policies and measures, such as those related to reduction of trade barriers, promotion of connectivity, and development of border economic zones, digital economy, and green economy, the statement said.

Subjects to be raised by Thailand at the summit are development of economic cooperation, development of connectivity among people, support for South Korea's promotion of peace and stability, as well as propriety within this region, according to the statement.
