BEIJING, Oct. 26 (APD) -- China and the United States have agreed to appropriately address each other's core concerns and confirmed that the technical consultations on part of the text of the agreement have been basically completed.
The agreements were outlined during a telephone conversation between Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin late Friday.
China's state news agency Xinhua said the two countries' chief negotiators also confirmed that the two sides have reached consensus on the U.S. importing Chinese-made cooked poultry meat, the equivalence of catfish product supervision systems, China's lifting of the ban on U.S. poultry exports, as well as on applying the public health information system of meat products.
They will hold another phone conversation soon and their team members will make continuous and stepped-up efforts on the consultations, Xinhua added.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said Friday that the world's two largest economies have made progress in trade discussions and have come close to finalizing parts of a phase one deal.
