The Islamic State (IS) militants in Libya's Sirte launched on Sunday three suicide car bombing attacks against presidential guards, according to a military official.

The attacks took place near a field hospital of the government troops. No casualties have been reported yet.

The government's forces have announced on Saturday it took over Sirte's main sea port and large part of the city, which has been controlled by the IS since last July, following violent clashes with the terrorist group that killed 11 of the guards and injured 35 others.

The Libyan government has formed the presidential guards service in May to fight against the increased dominance of IS in the country.

After taking control of the most of Sirte, the government troops started security patrols in the city.
