China urged to maintain calm and restraint on DPRK's missile launch

China urged all parties to maintain calm and restraint on the DPRK's latest ballistic missile launch and called for dialogue to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks when delivering a briefing in Beijing on Monday.

"The situation on the Korean peninsula is complex and sensitive. We urge all sides to avoid provoking each other and continue on the right track of dialogue and consultation," said Hua.

Hua reiterated that China is ware of the launch which violated the United Nations Security Council’s related resolution and opposes such action.

She also said China will continue making efforts to help de-escalate tensions in the region.
