The Slovenian Embassy in Moscow, the Russian capital city, will close temporarily after an accidental fire disaster broke out Monday in an electrical installation room, Slovenian media reported.

The embassy will remain closed until further notice, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said.

Radio Slovenia reported that the fire only caused property damage. The cause of the fire and the exact extent of damages are not yet known.

Twelve people were evacuated from the Slovenian embassy when smoke was seen in an old two-storey administrative building in central Moscow at 12:10 p.m. Moscow time (08:10 GMT), according to the Russian Interfax news agency.

Slovenia declared independence from former Yugoslavia in 1991 and established diplomatic relations with Russia in 1992.
