IT giant Google plans to build a second "larger, multilevel" facility in Singapore, said Vice President of Data Centers at Google Asia Pacific Joe Kava on Tuesday.
Kava said the new 500-million-U.S. dollar facility will be built on the same principles as the current one. It will be one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly sites in Asia, and it would use 100 percent recycled water for its critical operations.
In terms of hiring, Google aims to provide jobs for a small team of full-time staff, as well as a number of contractors, said the executive.
He said with the new addition, Google's long-term investment in data centers in Asia as a whole will be more than 1 billion U.S. dollars.
Google's first site in Singapore was announced in 2011. It is situated on a 2.45-hectare piece of land in Jurong West. Enditem
