Last Saturday, Chinese National Language Monitoring and Research Center released China's top ten trending terms in 2017.

Five of them are related to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). And the others have to do with changes in regional planning and progress in economy and science.

In September, Xiamen hosted the 9th BRICS Summit. BRICS member countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – worked together to make contributions to create a community of shared future for mankind.

In October, the 19th Party Congress announced that China has ushered in the new era of establishing a socialist country with Chinese characteristics.

Amid complex and volatile international situations, Chinese people stay true to their original selves, remember their mission and roll up their sleeves to get the job done. These two remarks come from General Secretary Xi Jinping of the CPC Central Committee.

And great changes have been seen in the scientific and economic fields and regional planning. They include the launch of China's first cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-1, breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, and the fast-developing sharing economy.

The establishment of the Xiongan New Area, a land of opportunities, will advance the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
