Vietnam is striving to increase its domestic aggregate demand in two major ways including speeding up disbursement of the country's key projects and creating jobs for local workforce, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Tuesday.

Dung told a monthly government session the country needs to speed up disbursement of public investment, foreign direct investment as well as official development assistance projects, beef up progress of the key projects and buildings.

"Disbursement is an important channel to increase aggregate demand, boosting economic growth," a press release quoted the premier as saying.

Another channel is to increase credit balance, deal with non- performing loans (NPL), and ensure credit quality, said the prime minister, adding that economic growth and creating jobs for local people depend on the increase of aggregate demand.

Besides, he urged ministries and various sectors to effectively and quickly implement the equitization of enterprises as planned.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said at the session that the country should take more drastic measure in enterprise restructuring, handle faster and better the NPLs, and overcome difficulties for domestic real estate market.

Nguyen Thien Nhan, chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee asked the various government ministries and sectors to speed up investment in housing and improve quality of milk powder for children among others.
