M5.1 quake hits 3 km southeast of Sparta, North Carolina

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolted three km southeast of Sparta, North Carolina at 12:07 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 9.2 km, according to USGS.

There's no immediate information on casualties or damage from the quake.
