The US Embassy to Turkey in Ankara said on Thursday that it has fully restored its visa service after the Turkish government fulfilled its high-level assurances regarding local embassy staff.
The embassy said no additional local employees are under investigation nor are they detained for performing official duties, as was promised by the Turkish government in November.
"Based on adherence to these assurances, the Department of State is confident that the security posture has improved sufficiently to allow for the full resumption of visa services in Turkey," the embassy said in a statement.
However, the embassy said it maintains serious concerns about detained local mission personnel and US citizens who were arrested under the state of emergency ruling. US officials will continue talks with their Turkish counterparts to reach a satisfactory solution.
