Three NATO soldiers died as a car bombing rocked southern Afghanistan on Monday, the military alliance confirmed in a statement.

"Three International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members were killed today when insurgents attacked their position in southern Afghanistan with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device," the NATO-led ISAF said in a statement.

However, it did not reveal the nationalities of the victims under the ISAF policy, only saying "it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities."

Meantime, an Afghan official on the condition of anonymity told Xinhua earlier in the day that a terrorist detonated an explosive- laden vehicle at around 5 p.m. local time Monday next to the camp of Georgian soldiers with the coalition forces in Musa Qala district of Helmand province some 555 km south of Kabul.

Some 1,000 Georgian troops have reportedly been serving in Afghanistan within the framework of ISAF mostly in the troubled Helmand province.
