DPRK condemns latest US sanctions

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday condemned the latest sanctions the US announced this week.

The sanctions are "a manifestation of heinous intention to throw a wet blanket over the inter-Korean exchange and cooperation and to aggravate the situation," an unnamed DPRK foreign ministry spokesman said in a report by the Korean Central News Agency.

It also said the US should stop such "anachronistic" policy towards the DPRK.

The US Treasury announced new sanctions on Wednesday aimed at stopping the DPRK's nuclear weapons development. The sanctions targeted at nine entities, 16 people, and six DPRK ships.
