At least 24 textile workers have been killed at a textile clandestine unit in Moroccan northern city of Tangier on Monday after rain flooded their unit, official news agency MAP reported.

A total of 10 others have been rescued and transferred to the regional hospitals to receive the necessary aid while search operations are still underway, added the agency quoting local authorities.

The textile clandestine unit was based in the underground of a residential villa in Elmors district in the city of Tangiers and the total number of workers has been unknown so far.

Authorities opened an investigation to reveal the circumstances and causes of the accident and determine the responsibilities, the report said.
