Quarantine detective dogs perform in competition in S. China

Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau held a competition for quarantine detective dogs on February 1 in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.

After three rounds of searching competition, the 2-year-old detective dog "Ba Da" and his trainer Ou Canlun won the first award.

Ba Da started working as a quarantine detective dog in 2016 at Jiangmen Port in Guangdong Province.

Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has been using detective dogs since 2003 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

The bureau now boasts the most quarantine detective dogs nationwide, with 20 dogs on work and two others under training.

So far the dogs have intercepted 80,000 batches of imported products, including animals and plants.
