Visiting head of Iran's parliament' s foreign policy committee said Tuesday he agrees with Lebanon's Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour that there is a "U.S. plot against the region's security and stability."

Alaeddin Boroujerdi told reporters that he calls for unity to prevent a possible disaster, expressing hope that "U.S. President Barack Obama would act wisely and would not rush in his decision on taking a military action against Syria."

"We hope that the U.S. Congress would have the same level of self-restraint and wisdom to prevent acts that threaten the security of the region," he said.

Boroujerdi made similar remarks after visiting Lebanese caretaker Prime Minster Najib Miqati, calling for strong efforts to prevent the crisis from spiralling out of control.

When receiving the Iranian delegation, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman pointed out "the dangers that could result from any foreign military intervention" in Syria.

Suleiman reiterated Lebanon's rejection of any military intervention, saying it is up to the UN to hold responsible the parties that allegedly used chemical weapons in Syria, according to a presidential statement.

The visiting Iranian delegation also discussed with Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah the latest developments in the region, mainly in Lebanon and Syria.
