S. Korean media: Lotte may have struck illegal deals with Park Geun-hye

South Korea's biggest department store and duty free shop operator Lotte may have made illegal deals with former president Park Geun-hye to offer land for the THAAD missile defense system, according to local media.

Park's administration is reported to have helped Lotte win a bid for a construction project worth around 530 million US dollars.

According to reports, Lotte had little chance of clinching the deal but won, allegedly due to the land swap deal struck with the government for the deployment of the controversial THAAD missile defense system.

The company has denied the allegations.
